# Use your own domain for your agent

> Show your intoCHAT agent's Help Page, chat link and widget script on a subdomain of your own, such as chat.yourcompany.com, with a CNAME record. Pro and Enterprise.

On the Pro and Enterprise plans, each agent can have a custom domain: a subdomain of your own, such as `chat.yourcompany.com` or `help.yourcompany.com`. Once it is connected, your domain shows the agent's [Help Page](/en/docs/help-page), its [direct chat link](/en/docs/iframe-and-link) and its [widget script](/en/docs/script-tag), with HTTPS set up automatically.

## What your domain shows

With `chat.yourcompany.com` connected:

| Address | Shows |
|---|---|
| `https://chat.yourcompany.com/` | The Help Page when it is published, otherwise the full-page chat |
| `https://chat.yourcompany.com/chat` | The full-page chat, like the direct link |
| `https://chat.yourcompany.com/embed.js` | The widget script; its chat window also loads from your domain |

To install the launcher from your domain, use this script tag instead of the intoCHAT one:

```html
<script src="https://chat.yourcompany.com/embed.js" data-chatbot-id="YOUR_AGENT_ID"></script>
```

The chat window then runs on your domain too, so the visitor's session is stored under your domain rather than intoCHAT's.

Only this agent exists on the domain. Any other address on it, and any other agent, shows "Not found". The agent's intoCHAT addresses keep working as before.

## Connect a domain

1. Open your agent and go to the **Share** tab. The **Custom domain** card is below the Help Page card.
2. Enter the subdomain, such as `chat.yourcompany.com`, and click **Add domain**.
3. The card shows the DNS records to add. At your DNS provider (where you manage your domain's records), add:
   - A **CNAME** record with the name `chat.yourcompany.com` (some providers want only `chat`) and the value shown on the card, usually `cname.vercel-dns.com`.
   - A **TXT** record, only if the card shows one. It appears when the domain is already used on another account of our hosting provider, Vercel, and proves the domain is yours.
4. Click **Check now**. DNS changes can take from a few minutes to a few hours to spread. intoCHAT also checks waiting domains once a day.

When the status says **Live**, the domain shows your agent.

## Status

- **Waiting for DNS**: the records aren't in place yet, or haven't spread.
- **Live**: the domain shows the agent.
- **DNS changed**: the domain worked, but its CNAME record no longer points at intoCHAT. Put the record back.
- **Needs attention**: the domain can't be used as it is. Remove it and add it again; if that doesn't help, contact support.

## Things to know

- Use a subdomain. Root domains such as `yourcompany.com` can't have the CNAME record this needs, so they aren't supported yet.
- One custom domain per agent. To change it, remove the current one first.
- A domain already connected to another Vercel project or account can't be added until it is removed there.
- Admins and the account owner add and remove the domain. Editors can click **Check now**. Viewers see the status.
- **Remove** takes the domain off within a minute. Widget scripts and links that use it stop working; delete the DNS records afterwards.
- Deleting the agent removes its custom domain too.
- If your plan no longer includes custom domains, for example after a downgrade, the domain shows "Not found" until you upgrade again. The setting is kept.
- A private agent's chat doesn't work on the domain either, and its Help Page stays off.
- [Allowed domains](/en/docs/allowed-domains) work as before: they decide which websites can frame the chat or use the widget, whichever domain the script comes from.
- If your site sends a Content Security Policy, allow your custom domain instead of `https://www.intochat.ai` when you load the script from it.
- When the Help Page is served on your domain, search engines are pointed at your domain as its address.

See [Plans and limits](/en/docs/plans-and-limits) for what each plan includes.
