# Plans, limits and what counts as a message

> Compare intoCHAT plans: agents, messages, training characters and website crawls per month, what counts as a message, when usage resets and removing branding.

Every plan includes the full agent builder: training, actions, lead collection and appearance settings. Plans differ in how many agents, messages, training characters and website crawls you get.

## What counts as a message

- Each message a visitor sends to one of your agents counts as one. The agent's reply doesn't count separately.
- The allowance belongs to your account and is shared by all your agents.
- Your own tests in the **Playground** count, and so do temporary chats.
- A message is counted when it is accepted, even if the reply then fails or the visitor closes the page.

When the allowance is used up, your agents stop answering new messages until it resets or you upgrade. Visitors see "Message limit reached" with a note that the owner needs to upgrade. Your agents and their knowledge stay as they are. The dashboard warns you under **Needs attention** once 75% of the month's messages are used, and again when the limit is reached.

## Usage alerts

intoCHAT emails your account address when your agents have used 80% of the month's messages, and again when they reach 100%. Each alert is sent at most once until your usage resets.

- **At 80%**: how many messages are used, when the allowance resets, what happens at the limit, and a **See plans** button.
- **At 100%**: all agents in your account have stopped replying, and visitors who send a message see "Message limit reached" with a note that the owner needs to upgrade. The agents reply again when the allowance resets, or as soon as you move to a plan with more messages. The email has an **Upgrade your plan** button.

Usage alerts are on by default. To turn them off, go to **Settings**, **Account** and switch off **Usage alerts** under **Notifications**. The optional daily summary email is set in the same place; see [Conversations and stats](/en/docs/conversations-and-dashboard). Plans with unlimited messages get no usage alerts. If your limit grows during the month, for example after an upgrade, the alerts can come again when you cross a level again.

## Training characters per agent

This is the total text of all of one agent's sources: website pages, files, text snippets and Q&A pairs. When a new source would go over the limit, it isn't added and the Knowledge tab shows **Character limit reached**. Delete sources you no longer need or upgrade to make room.

Duplicating an agent needs a free agent on your plan, and the agent's knowledge must be within this limit. See [Quick start](/en/docs/quick-start).

## Website crawls

Importing pages from a website counts as one crawl, whether it reads one page or several hundred. Scanning a site to list its pages doesn't use a crawl. When the month's crawls are used up, the Knowledge tab reports "Monthly crawl limit reached". Files, text and Q&A pairs can still be added. See [Website crawl](/en/docs/website-crawl).

## When usage resets

Message and crawl counts start again every month. On paid plans that happens at the start of each billing period. On the Free plan it happens one month after the last reset. The dashboard shows **Messages this month** and **Website crawls this month** against your limits.

## Removing "Powered by intoCHAT"

On the **Appearance** tab, switch off **Show “Powered by intoCHAT”**. This works on any paid plan. On the Free plan the switch is locked on, with a link to your billing settings below it, and the credit under the chat input is always shown.

## Changing your plan

Upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time under **Settings**, **Billing** in your dashboard. For an Enterprise plan with custom limits, contact us through the [pricing page](/en/pricing).
