MCP server
Manage your AI agents from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor
intoCHAT has a remote MCP server. Add it as a connector in Claude.ai or ChatGPT, or to Claude Code and Cursor with an API key, and ask in plain words: list your agents, read conversations and leads, add Q&A pairs, update contacts or test how an agent answers. Your AI tool calls intoCHAT for you, within the access you granted.
Visitor: Which questions about shipping did my store agent get yesterday, and did it answer them well?
Agent: I listed yesterday's conversations of "Store assistant" and read the ones about shipping. Most asked about delivery times to Austria and were answered from your shipping page. Two asked whether you ship to Norway, and the agent said it didn't know.
Visitor: We do ship to Norway, in 5 to 7 business days. Add that as a Q&A pair.
Agent: Done. I added the Q&A pair "Do you ship to Norway?" with your answer, and training has started. Want me to send the agent a test question once it's finished?
Your agent data sits in one tab, your AI assistant in another
Checking what customers asked this week, pulling the latest leads into a follow-up email or adding an answer your agent was missing usually means opening the dashboard, clicking through tabs and copying text across. If you already work in Claude, ChatGPT or an AI code editor, that is a detour. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard these tools use to reach other services. With intoCHAT's MCP server connected, the assistant you already use can read your agents' conversations, leads and sources and make small changes for you, so the question "what did people ask about shipping yesterday?" gets answered where you asked it.
Why connect your AI tool to intoCHAT over MCP
One server, the same data and permissions as the REST API, reachable from the tools you already use.
Sign in, no key to copy
In Claude.ai and ChatGPT you paste the server's address, sign in to intoCHAT and choose what the connector may do on a consent screen. The app gets its own access token; you never handle it.
API keys for developer tools
Claude Code, Cursor and any client that lets you set a header connect with an intoCHAT API key, using the same keys, scopes and rate limit as the REST API. Share the setup in a project file and keep the key in an environment variable.
Read only, or read and write
You choose whether a connected app may only read, or also add and delete sources, update contacts and chat with your agents. You can limit it to the agents you pick, and it never gets more than your own role allows.
Test answers without leaving your editor
The chat_with_agent tool sends a real message to your agent, answered by the same code as the website widget, so you can check how it handles a question while you're writing knowledge for it.
Fix knowledge gaps in one sentence
Ask your assistant to add a Q&A pair or a text snippet, and intoCHAT starts training right away. If the agent already has the same question, the answer is replaced instead of duplicated.
How to connect an AI tool to intoCHAT
Be on Starter or higher
The MCP server comes with Starter, Pro and Enterprise, like the REST API. On Free, apps can't be connected and API keys can't be created.
Add the server address
In Claude.ai, open Settings, then Connectors, and click Add custom connector. In ChatGPT, turn on Developer mode and create a connector with OAuth authentication. Either way, the URL is https://www.intochat.ai/api/mcp.
Sign in and choose the access
A window opens on intoCHAT. Sign in, then choose the Account, Read only or Read and write under Access, and All agents or Only the agents I choose. Click Allow and you are sent back, connected.
Or use an API key
For Claude Code or Cursor, the owner or an admin creates a key under Settings, API keys, ideally with only the :read scopes for a start. Add the server with the Authorization header, for example with claude mcp add, and type /mcp to check it's connected.
MCP server details
Eight read tools
list_agents, get_agent, list_conversations, get_conversation, list_inbox_conversations, list_leads, list_contacts and list_sources return the same JSON as the matching REST endpoints. List tools take a limit of up to 100, a cursor and a since date.
Five write tools
chat_with_agent, add_text_source, add_qa_pair, delete_source and upsert_contact. Contacts are created or updated by external ID or email, with phone, name and custom attributes. Write tools are offered only with read and write access.
Marked for confirmation
Each tool tells your AI tool whether it only reads, and delete_source, add_qa_pair and upsert_contact are marked as able to change existing data, so your client can ask you before using them. Deleting a source cannot be undone.
Your role and agents apply
A Viewer who allows read and write still can't add sources or update contacts. A member limited to some agents only reaches those. If your role changes, the app's access changes with it on its next request.
Standard OAuth sign-in
Apps register themselves through dynamic client registration and sign in with PKCE. They must send you back to an https address, or to localhost on your own computer. Access renews itself while in use and lapses after 30 days without use.
Connected apps you can revoke
Under Settings, Account, Connected apps lists each app with its access, its agents and when it was last used. Revoke cuts it off immediately, and connecting or disconnecting an app shows up in the account's audit log.
Rate limit and timeouts
60 requests a minute per API key, shared with the REST API, or per connected app. A chat_with_agent reply must finish within 55 seconds. A separate key for your AI tool keeps it from using your own server's requests.
Any Streamable HTTP client
The server uses the Streamable HTTP transport, speaks MCP 2026-07-28 and 2025-03-26 to 2025-11-25, answers every request with JSON and keeps no session. Claude desktop, MCP Inspector and curl work too.
Frequently asked questions
What is an MCP server for an AI agent?
An MCP server lets AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor call another service through the Model Context Protocol. intoCHAT's MCP server gives those tools access to your intoCHAT account: they can list your agents, read their conversations, leads and contacts, add knowledge and chat with an agent, within the access you chose.
Which AI tools can I connect?
Claude.ai and ChatGPT as custom connectors that sign in with OAuth, the Claude desktop app through Connectors, and Claude Code and Cursor with an API key. Any other MCP client that supports the Streamable HTTP transport and lets you add a header can connect too, and clients with MCP OAuth sign-in can connect without a key.
Which plan do I need?
Starter, Pro or Enterprise, the same plans that include the REST API. On Free you can't create API keys or connect apps, and an account that moves back to Free gets an error on every request until it's on Starter or higher again.
Can a connected app change my agent?
Only if you allow Read and write. Then it can add text snippets and Q&A pairs, delete sources, update contacts and send messages to an agent. There are no tools to create agents or change their settings or instructions: that stays in the dashboard. With Read only, the app can only read.
Does chatting with an agent over MCP use my messages?
Yes. chat_with_agent sends a real message, and each reply counts on your plan exactly as in the widget: one message with a fast model such as GPT-6 Luna, Claude Haiku or Gemini Flash, more with a larger model such as Claude Sonnet, Gemini Pro or Claude Opus. It also counts toward the agent's monthly message cap if you set one. Reading data uses no messages.
Can my teammates connect their own AI tools?
Yes. Anyone on the team can connect an app by signing in, and it can never do more than they can. API keys are different: only the owner and admins can create them, and a key works for every agent in the account, so keep it like a password.
How do I disconnect an app?
In intoCHAT, go to Settings, Account, find the app under Connected apps and click Revoke, then Revoke access. It loses access immediately. For an API key, revoke it on the API keys page. Removing someone from the account also stops the apps they connected to it.
Can it add website pages or files as sources?
No. Over MCP you can add text snippets and Q&A pairs, and list or delete any source. Website pages, files, Notion pages and the other source types are added in the dashboard. The server also doesn't push live updates; for leads and hand-offs as they happen, use webhooks.
Bring your agents into the AI tools you already use
Create your agent free, upgrade to Starter, then add https://www.intochat.ai/api/mcp as a connector in Claude.ai or ChatGPT and ask it to list your agents.
