For law firms and legal practices
AI chatbot for law firms
Answer the practical questions people ask before they contact a lawyer: which areas your firm covers, how a first consultation works, what it costs. The agent sticks to your published information, never gives legal advice and collects contact details for a consultation request.
Visitor: Do you handle unfair dismissal cases?
Agent: Yes. Our employment team acts for employees and employers in dismissal disputes, from settlement negotiations to tribunal claims. You can read more on our employment law page.
Visitor: I was dismissed last week without notice. Do I have a strong case?
Agent: I can't assess individual cases or give legal advice. One of our employment lawyers can look at your situation in a first consultation, which lasts 30 minutes and costs £95. Would you like to leave your email address or phone number so the team can contact you?
Visitor: Yes, it's sam.taylor@example.com
Agent: Thank you. Our team will email you during office hours to arrange the consultation.
Prospective clients have questions before they call
People looking for a lawyer want to know quickly whether your firm handles their kind of matter, how fees work and how to get an appointment. If the answer is buried somewhere on your website, many leave without getting in touch. Answering these questions by phone takes time away from client work, and enquiries that arrive in the evening wait until the next day.
What an AI agent does for your firm
Explains your practice areas
Visitors learn from your own website content which matters you handle, who in the firm works on them and which documents to bring.
Stays within clear limits
Your instructions keep the agent to general information. It does not assess cases or predict outcomes, and it tells visitors to speak to a lawyer about their own situation.
Consultation requests you can follow up
When someone wants to discuss a matter, the lead form collects an email address or phone number and emails it to you straight away.
Enquiries outside office hours
Evening and weekend visitors get answers and can leave their details instead of leaving your site.
Replies in the visitor's language
Visitors who write in another language get answers in that language, based on the content you published.
How to set it up
Add your firm's content
Crawl your website and choose the pages on practice areas, team, fees and the first consultation. Upload documents such as a fee schedule or a client information sheet.
Set clear limits in the instructions
Tell the agent to give general information only, never to assess a case or recommend a course of action, and to suggest a consultation as soon as a visitor describes their situation.
Turn on lead capture
Choose when the form appears: on keywords like consultation or appointment, after a number of messages, or when the AI decides. Leads are emailed to you and up to five colleagues.
Test and publish
Ask difficult questions in the Playground, check that the agent declines to give advice, then add the script to your website.
What intoCHAT gives your firm
Your content, not the open web
The agent answers from the pages, files and Q&A pairs you add. Built-in rules keep it grounded in those sources, and it says when it doesn't know.
Exact wording where it matters
Use Q&A pairs for fees, consultation terms and disclaimers. Q&A answers take priority over other sources.
Lead form and email alerts
Collect an email address and/or phone number with a manual, AI, rule-based or hybrid trigger, at most three prompts per conversation, with an email alert for every lead.
Only the details visitors choose to share
The lead form asks only for an email address and/or phone number, and visitors decide whether to give them.
Chat logs and leads table
Read full transcripts, filter leads, export them as CSV and open the conversation behind each lead.
One script on your site
Add the chat with a script tag, the WordPress plugin or an inline iframe. Brand import pulls your logo and colors from your website.
Frequently asked questions
Does the chatbot give legal advice?
It shouldn't, and you set the limits. Your instructions tell the agent to give general information from your published content only and to recommend a consultation for any individual situation. Test these limits in the Playground with real-world questions before going live.
Can it book consultations?
No. intoCHAT does not book appointments or connect to calendars. The agent explains how to arrange a consultation, refers visitors to your contact or booking page, and can collect an email address or phone number so your firm can get in touch.
What about confidentiality?
Visitors can type anything into a chat, so tell the agent in its instructions to ask visitors not to share confidential details before they have spoken to a lawyer. The lead form itself only asks for an email address and/or phone number. Conversations are stored in your chat logs, so cover the chat in your privacy notice.
Will the agent make up answers about the law?
The agent is designed to answer from your sources and to say when it doesn't know rather than invent an answer. Limit it to your own content in the instructions, and keep your pages on practice areas and fees current, because retraining is manual.
Who receives new enquiries?
Every new lead triggers an email to the account owner and up to five more addresses, for example a legal secretary or the partner responsible. All leads also appear in a table you can filter and export as CSV.
Does it work for notaries, tax advisers and other professional firms?
Yes. The setup is the same: train the agent on your services, fees and process, set clear limits in the instructions and use the lead form for consultation requests.
