How intoCHAT works on Ghost

Ghost has a site-wide Code injection setting for adding scripts without touching your theme. intoCHAT uses its footer field: one script tag adds a chat bubble to the corner of every page. The agent answers readers from what you give it, such as your published posts and pages, PDFs and Q&A pairs, and says so when it doesn't know. Colors, position and the welcome message are set in intoCHAT, so the code stays the same after the first install.

Install intoCHAT on Ghost

  1. Create and train your agent

Sign up for intoCHAT, create an agent and add your Ghost site's address on the Knowledge tab. intoCHAT finds your posts and pages through your sitemap and links, and you choose which ones to include.

  2. Copy the script tag

Open the Share tab and copy the code under Bubble Chat. It already contains your agent ID.

  3. Open Code injection in Ghost

In Ghost Admin, go to Settings, then Advanced, and open Code injection.

  4. Paste it into Site footer

Paste the script into the Site footer field, not Site header, and save.

  5. Check your site

Open your site in a new tab. The chat bubble appears in the bottom corner, with the colors and position you set on the Appearance tab.

The code to paste into Site footer

<script src="https://www.intochat.ai/api/embed.js" data-chatbot-id="YOUR_AGENT_ID"></script>

Use Site footer, not Site header. Ghost places footer code just before the closing body tag, and the script needs the page body to exist when it runs.

What the agent does on your Ghost site

  • Learns from your posts and pages

Paste your site address and intoCHAT finds up to 500 URLs through your sitemap and links. Exclude paths you don't need, such as tag archives, with patterns.

  • Adds your documents

Upload PDF, Word, EPUB, Markdown and other files, or add text snippets and Q&A pairs. Q&A answers take priority over other sources.

  • Puts key sources first

Star a source, such as your membership FAQ, so it ranks higher in answers. No retraining needed.

  • Stays on your content

Answers come from your sources through semantic and keyword search. Built-in rules resist prompt injection, and the agent says when it doesn't know.

  • Collects leads

A short form in the chat asks for an email address or phone number. Leads are emailed to you and can be exported as a CSV file.

  • Replies in the reader's language

The agent answers in the language the reader writes in, using the same knowledge.

Frequently asked questions

Does intoCHAT slow down my Ghost site?

The script is a single file that loads from the Site footer, at the end of the page body, after your content. The chat window runs in its own iframe served by intoCHAT, so its code stays separate from your theme.

Why doesn't the chat bubble appear on my Ghost site?

Check that the script is in Site footer, not Site header, because it needs the page body to exist when it runs. Make sure you saved the Code injection settings and that the agent ID matches the one on the Share tab. Then reload your site in a new tab.

Can I show the chat on some posts or pages only?

Yes. Instead of the site-wide Site footer, open the code injection settings of a single post or page and paste the script into its footer field. Only that post or page then shows the chat bubble.

Does the agent learn new posts automatically?

No. Sources don't re-sync on their own, so retrain your website source on the Knowledge tab after you publish posts the agent should know about. The crawl reads what a logged-out visitor sees, so add members-only content as a file or text snippet instead.

Will the chat bubble overlap other buttons in the corner?

It can if your theme or Ghost's member sign-up button uses the same corner. Move the intoCHAT bubble to the left or right on the Appearance tab, whichever corner is free.

Do I need to edit the code when I change the agent?

No. The script only carries your agent ID. Colors, position, welcome message, suggested questions and knowledge load from intoCHAT each time a page opens, so your changes appear without touching Ghost.
