The calculator uses four numbers you enter and three steps:
- Questions answered by the agent = questions per month × share the agent can answer.
- Hours saved = questions answered × minutes per question ÷ 60.
- Value of time saved = hours saved × staff cost per hour.
- The plan is chosen by total questions per month: Free up to 25, Starter up to 2,500, Pro up to 10,000, Enterprise above that.
Choosing realistic assumptions
Count the questions you already receive by email, phone, chat and contact form, then estimate how many of them your website, help pages and documents already answer. That share is what an agent trained on the same content can cover.
Start with a cautious figure and check the real one in your chat logs after a month. The minutes per question should include the time to look something up, not only to type the reply.
What the calculator leaves out
The estimate covers staff time only. It does not count the time to set up the agent, review conversations or keep your content current, and it does not count benefits that are hard to measure, such as answers outside office hours or leads captured in the chat.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate chatbot ROI?
Multiply the questions you get per month by the share a chatbot can answer, then by the minutes each one takes a person, and divide by 60 to get hours. Multiply the hours by your staff cost per hour and compare the result with the chatbot’s monthly price.
What share of questions can an AI chatbot answer?
It depends on your content and your customers, so this calculator does not assume a number. A chatbot trained on your website can answer what your content covers. Questions that need account access, a decision or information you have not published still go to a person.
What counts as a message in intoCHAT?
Each message a visitor sends to your agent counts as one message. The agent’s replies do not count separately. Plans include 25, 2,500 or 10,000 messages per month, and Enterprise is priced for higher volumes.
Why are the plan prices shown in US dollars?
intoCHAT plans are priced in US dollars. If you calculate staff cost in euros or Swiss francs, compare the plan price with your result using the current exchange rate.
